Programs
ACAPC provides free prevention education and
training in the areas of:
- Stranger Awareness
What does a stranger look like? What's
the difference between a "good" stranger and a "dangerous"
stranger? Designed for children 3-12 years old
and their parents, this short workshop gives examples and
scenarios to answer questions like these and teaches kids
effective strategies to use when approached by a suspicious
person. Parents are provided with additional information
to review with their children.
- Mandated Child Abuse & Neglect Reporter Training
This training is for people whose profession requires them to
report suspected child abuse and neglect, and for volunteers who
work with children.
- Some of the people who have participated in this
training are child care providers, AmeriCorp workers, school
faculty, students in the Early Childhood Education or ROP
Health Careers classes, firefighters and emergency
personnel, lifeguards, soccer, little league, football and
cheer coaches, and clergy and church staff and volunteers.
- Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention
Presented in about one hour, or combined with the Mandated
Reporter Training, this presentation uses an emotionally
powerful video and a demonstration doll to illustrate how easily
a child can be injured by just a little shaking, as well as ways
to help soothe and cope with a crying baby.
- Keeping Safely Connected - Digital Safety and Cyber
Bullying Prevention for kids, teens, and adults
- Our age-appropriate training addresses physical safety,
psychological safety, reputational, and legal safety.
Behavior and the potential consequences of actions are
emphasized using a multi-media presentation and handouts.
- The Assest Approach to Positive Youth Development
Asset Building is a way
of thinking and acting. It is not a model, a program or anything
new. It’s something that we all can, and probably already do,
and it’s something that can be done with children of all ages.
The idea of being an Asset Builder is that we make it
intentional. We look for meaningful ways to incorporate asset
building into our personal and professional lives, and
intentionally shift the ways we think and act toward youth.
