Programs

ACAPC provides free prevention education presentations and training in the areas of:

  • Mandated Child Abuse & Neglect Reporter Training
This training is for people whose profession requires them to report suspected child abuse and neglect, and for volunteers who work with children.
    • Some of the people who have participated in this training are child care providers, AmeriCorp workers, school faculty, students in the Early Childhood Education or ROP Health Careers classes, firefighters and emergency personnel, lifeguards, soccer, little league, football and cheer coaches, and clergy and church staff and volunteers.

  • Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention
Presented in about one hour, or combined with the Mandated reporter Training, this presentation uses an emotionally powerful video and a demonstration doll to illustrate how easily a child can be injured by just a little shaking.
    • This workshop has been presented to junior high and high school students, wards at the Preston Youth Correctional Facility and Pine Grove Youth Camp, Mother's Club members, AmeriCorp workers, and other community members.

  • Internet Safety for kids, teens, and adults
Almost 2000 students have attended school assemblies where they have learned what personal, identifying information is, how to select safe screen names and passwords, how Internet predators operate, what is cyber bullying and how to prevent it, and, that kindness counts.
    • Separate presentations are used for elementary and junior high students.
    • Our Program Coordinator attended the first annual California Cyber Safety Summit, and was one of the presenters for the Sierra-Sacramento Regional Child Abuse Prevention Council Coalition Train-the-Trainer workshop.
